Most consultants assess your problem and then come up with a series of recommendations for you to implement to solve your problem. The solution, often referred to as the plan of action, is usually what the consultants design. The inherent problem with this is that the agency is responsible to implement the consultants’ plan, whether or not the leadership and staff have fully embraced it.

Known as a mission-driven and results-oriented professional, Greg Schmieg is committed to excellence and success in all endeavors. He has served as a chief executive for more than twenty-five years in both the private and public sector. His private sector experience includes serving as the CEO for hospitals in Wisconsin, Texas, and Georgia for a Fortune 25 corporation, and his public sector experience includes serving as the Executive Director for the Roosevelt Warm Springs Institute for Rehabilitation, originally founded by President Franklin Roosevelt and internationally known for the treatment of polio. Greg later served as the first Executive Director for the Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency. Most recently, he is a founding principal of Synergy Consulting Partners. He is a Vietnam War veteran and recipient of the United States Navy League Award and has a doctorate in Rehabilitation from Auburn University. His areas of personal interest include transformational leadership and leadership development, stakeholder and partner relationships, consumer engagement, and high performing organizations.
A seasoned professional with diverse experience and background, Deane graduated from UNC Chapel Hill and brings varied skills to Schmieg Consulting. With a foundation in education, ESL experience teaching English to Turkish children in Izmir, Turkey, and EFL experience teaching non-native English speakers in North Carolina, she has a broad understanding of diverse cultures and perspectives. Deane’s entrepreneurial spirit led her to establish a successful children's consignment sale, becoming a cornerstone for thousands of families and involving hundreds of volunteers every year. For over 30 years, this venture has impacted the lives of many families, exemplifying her ability to create and sustain community-driven initiatives. Most recently, Deane has worked with Synergy Consulting Partners in an administrative capacity and by assisting the principals in many aspects of their VR agency engagements. Her personal life is characterized by a passion for service, a commitment to community, and a dedication to making a positive impact. Driven by strong organizational and logistical skills, coupled with fierce determination and tremendous energy, Deane is dedicated to assisting agencies bring about positive change to their vocational rehabilitation landscape.
